How to Maximize Your Health Insurance Rewards Program Benefits

A gold medal with a blue ribbon, there is confetti in the background with the word "winner" spelled out. Learn about the healthy rewards found in your health insurance and the benefits available to you.

For many years I’ve known about the rewards program through my health insurance provider and I’ve consistently made it a priority to jump through a couple hoops so I can reap those rewards. In reality, it hasn’t been much of an inconvenience but just a way of life, and trust me, it’s paid off.

What is a health insurance rewards program and how do I join?

It’s a free program offered by many insurers that rewards you for completing basic health tasks. Log in to your provider’s website to get started.

What Is a Healthy Rewards Program?

If you’re not 100% sure what I’m referring to yet, a health insurance rewards program, also known as a “Healthy Rewards Program” is a benefit many health insurance companies offer to their primary insured, spouse, and children. These programs ask you to complete simple tasks like getting an annual physical (which is free), watching short educational videos, or filling out a quick health assessment.

These tasks support your well-being and come with an added bonus such as financial incentives and gifts.

Why You Should Participate in Your Rewards Program

Is it close to the end of the calendar year? You may still have time to complete your eligible tasks. Participating in your program supports your health and gives you tangible rewards in return, think gift cards, groceries, and more.

How to Get Started with Your Rewards Program

First, log into your health care provider’s website. I highly recommend using a desktop computer, as many features are limited on mobile devices.

Once you’ve found the rewards program page, just follow the prompts. You’ll see a list of eligible tasks and track your progress. You can start saving and earning all at once for yourself and your family.

Tips for Maximizing Your Rewards Before Year-End

Now that you see the value in this program, set an annual reminder to log in each fall and complete your tasks. Don’t wait until the last minute! Some activities take time to process, and you don’t want to miss out on rewards.

Real-Life Benefits: How I Used My Rewards

I know many people never take the time to explore this benefit, but you’re not one of them. You’re willing to take small steps for a big payoff.

To date, I’ve earned $250 and have used those gift cards to buy healthy food at Aldi and pick up some cool items from the rewards store. That’s money saved and wellness gained.
