Sometimes life can be ordinary, without many memorable moments such as routine errands, picking up the kids, dropping off the kids, a hectic commute to work or school, or just the usual things you’d come to expect in life. But how about something mystical, metaphysical, or paranormal? Do you believe in the supernatural? When was the last time something very unusual happened in your life? Quite often, there are many unexplained phenomena that occur all around us, from weird situations to miraculous healings. At best, we can try to discover the meaning but sometimes there are just no answers.
Our world is spiritual
We live in a spiritual world whether you believe it or not. It was once said that “we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” While I believe that statement to be strangely accurate, global news reports continue to share stories, interviews, and eyewitness accounts that keep me in tune to this strange-supernatural world we live in. And if that wasn’t enough to remind me, the fact that a perpetual good vs evil seems to occur in our cities and even in our homes is evidence for me to conclude that we are at war. But not just any war having a common theme of a self-centered human causing harm, no, this is a spiritual war!
Evidence of the spiritual things
In the face of enormous, heinous, senseless evil, most of us sense, “there is something dark and powerful going on here.” Throughout the world, and throughout history, most people would say that’s evidence of spiritual forces at work. But in the 21st century? Perhaps we tend to think about spiritual warfare as angels and demons and all the rest as a fictional concept. But what if we’re wrong? What if there really are unseen realities at work all around us? Every writer of Scripture took demons seriously. And so did Jesus. Shouldn’t we?
